JOHN COLTRANE

(1926-1967)

John Coltrane was born in Hamlet, North Carolina. A former citizen of High Point, North Carolina and Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia, he is now a legendary saxaphonist and jazz composer. The city of High Point honors John Coltrane with an eight foot tall bronze statue and a commemorative road marker.

The John Coltrane exhibit at the High Point Museum includes a wall poster, piano and a 1961 award
